Summer is here! We are thrilled at
the library to be able to offer you
and your families a wide range of
children and youth programming.
The introduction of the King Township
Public Library’s Summer Programme
listing was released early
June and the community response
has been incredible. There are
over 24 programmes offered
throughout all four of your library
branches, ranging in age from the
very young to 16 years.
The Summer Reading Club is an
all time favourite! This year’s
theme is Agent 009. All ages can
join this amazing programme at
any of the King Township Public
Library’s branches, starting June
22 and ending August 21st. The
participants will receive a poster,
magazine and stickers, all free!
The children keep track of the
books they read and for every book
they will receive one ballot. The
ballots are entered into a draw that
will run on a bi-weekly basis
throughout the summer months.
There is also a Grand Prize to be
drawn for at the end of the summer.
The Grand prizes this year are free
tickets to the Toronto Zoo and The
Royal Ontario Museum. The prizes
act as incentives to continue reading
throughout the summer months
either as a family or on one’s own.
The library prides itself on literacy
based programming. All of our
events encourage a love of reading
by using fun and inventive concepts
for your children to enjoy.
There are some “oldies” returning
this year, the Parachute Club,
Movie Fridays, Red Cross Babysitting
Course, Preschool Story Hour
and Born to Read. New to this year
are; Preschool aged weekly Summer
Reading Club meetings, Sheltoons
Cartooning Workshops,
Sewing Camp, Sewing Classes,
Computer Camp, Make a Friendship
Bracelet, and Summer Fun
Saturdays. For further information
about registration, please visit the
library’s Online Community Calendar
found on the library’s website
along with the “Summer Programmes
2009” brochure
www.king-library.on.ca See you there!
A big THANK YOU to TD Canada
Trust for the sponsorship of the
posters, magazines and stickers,
to the Toronto Zoo and the Royal
Ontario Museum for making this
year’s Summer Reading Club so
memorable.
