Celebration of significant anniversaries is a tradition in WI. A complete description of Laskay’s 60th and the signatures in the guest book can be read on-line in Laskay’s Tweedsmuir Books. It was held on July 10, 1968 and at the conclusion of the program the eighty guests enjoyed an outdoor luncheon of cake, strawberries and ice cream prepared by the fifteen members of the branch. The highlight of the program was “Flashes from the Past”, a panel chaired by Mrs W Finch, president during the 40th anniversary. The skit was designed to resemble the CBC program “Flashback” including a local commercial prepared and read by Mrs Pam Dennett. Challengers were Mrs N McMurchy - mystery object - old long handled collection box used at Strange Pres. Church; Miss H Hunter-Minutes of first Laskay WI meeting; and Mrs D C Henderson - celebrity guest who stumped the panel for her
participation in the teaching of Esperanto in King City 1961-62.
