This summer is shaping up to be one of the
funniest yet! This year’s Summer Reading
Club theme is LAUGH OUT LOUD! Children
and their families will be able to come into
the library starting on the first day of summer,
June 21st, to sign up for this extremely popular
and successful library programme. The
club will be held throughout the summer and
end on August 22nd.
The importance of children and families
continuing to read over the summer months
has always been a challenge for teachers
and librarians. The goal of this programme is
to get children and their families excited
about reading! To belong to a terrific club that
they will undoubtedly see other children from
their school and participate in fun activities
and possibly win prizes along the way. All by
reading books of their choice!
All ages are welcome to join! Members
will receive a poster, stickers and a magazine
all free! The magazine is based on the Laugh
out Loud theme and contains games and
activities and in the centre of the magazine
there is a reading log sheet. This is where
children will record the number of books that
they read throughout the summer. Young
ones who are not at the age to read will also
be able to join as it is encouraged that an
older sibling or parent can read to them! For
every book read the reader will receive one
ballot and the chance to enter them into our
bi-weekly draws that are held in each of the
4 King Township Library branches. The more
books that are read the greater the chance of
winning a prize! In addition to the bi-weekly
draws there is also a GRAND PRIZE, free
tickets to Canada’s Wonderland!
The Libraries will also be hosting weekly
club meetings. Children ages 6 and older will
be able to attend. Please pre-register your children
when signing up for the club, space is limited.
The meetings are all on super funny
themes that the kids will love! Dates and times
will be given to your children when the
Children’s Librarian visits the schools in June!
